Stealthily she has ripened,
Hence, she cannot recall when,
These enduring changes crept in.
Gradually, kindly, and subtly,
As if not to stun and petrify.
Grown ugly in a heartbeat,
Suddenly she’s diagnosed,
With severe appearance deficit!
Now we see the wrinkled face,
Flaccid breasts and bruised skin,
Emaciated body, the aftermath,
Of absolute adolescent beauty.
Stolen by her teenage daughters,
Who only clothe over the essentials,
Extra short and tight, to enhance,
Body elegance and mental confidence.
Then disappeared to the diaspora,
Leaving her not only unlovely,
But too impoverished lonely,
With plenty of time to ponder,
Silently, over a life half-lived!
